Weekly COVID-19 report

Received from Central Bedfordshire Council

Weekly figures

The new COVID-19 cases in Central Bedfordshire in the week ending 3 January have once again risen to 1,806 (an increase of 323 cases from the previous week).

The report is also sadly showing 17 deaths, this is a big increase from previous weeks where this figure was 8 deaths.

Our partner areas are also in a similar situation, with increasing rates.

  • Milton Keynes – 2,557 cases and 14 deaths
  • Luton – 1,682 cases and 16 deaths
  • Bedford – 1,556 cases and 9 deaths

Our health system is under severe pressure. The report is also showing that over 94% of general and acute beds in Bedford Hospital and Luton and Dunstable Hospital are occupied by covid patients.

The single best action we can take is to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.
