Weekly figures
COVID-19 cases remain high
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Central Bedfordshire (in the week ending 17 January) remains very high at 1,214. This is, however, a decrease of 275 cases from the previous week.
Whilst this reduction in new cases is to be welcomed, pressure on our hospitals remains significant. Very sadly, the report shows that 45 residents have died in this period, which is a significant increase from the figure of 20 deaths in the previous week.
This sobering news should remind us all that, now more than ever, we must follow the lockdown guidance and remember the simple advice to wash our hands regularly, wear face masks appropriately and continue social distancing.
These simple measures will help us all to protect the NHS and save lives.
Here is the latest data from our neighbours.
- Milton Keynes – 1,556 cases and 32 deaths
- Luton – 1,512 cases and 31 deaths
- Bedford – 1,166 cases and 24 deaths
