Dear Neighbour
Harlington Railway Station Footbridge Upgrade – May 2026
Further to my previous letters, I’m writing to let you know about the work near to your home in Harlington during May to complete the wider station improvements.
With the project planned to complete in May 2026, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and cooperation while the work has been taking place.
We will continue to maximise the use of daytime shifts to undertake the work, however some of our activities have to be carried out when trains aren’t running because we’ll need to have staff and equipment on the track.
The new footbridge has opened and the old footbridge demolition works have now been successfully completed. During the month of May we will complete brickwork repairs to the platforms, replace copers, install ACO drains, install lighting column bases, complete surfacing works and yellow lining on platforms 1 & 4 and complete wider snagging works.
To complete the surfacing works on platform 1, we will be accessing through Paxton Approach. Access will be maintained for residents throughout the works.
Our team will be using a variety of equipment and plant, including excavators, breakers, drills, circular saws, concrete pumps, generators, mixers, telehandlers and hand tools, and as a result some disturbance is unavoidable. However, every effort will be made to minimise any unnecessary noise, and those working on site are briefed on working responsibly in the local community.
As far as possible, we will carry out any noisy activities during daytime shifts. When this isn’t feasible—because the work can only be done safely when no trains are running—we will use measures such as acoustic noise barriers and, wherever possible, hand tools for breaking out material during night shifts.
Day shifts will continue to be undertaken between 07:00 and 17:00.

Upon completion of these works, we will be demobilising from site with the car park fully opening on 15 May.
As I’ve previously explained, working with infrastructure of this age does mean that there could be times when we come across unexpected obstructions or unchartered buried services within the platform. This could result in the unexpected use of equipment such as a concrete breaker for a short period of time. We will try to minimise the effect of this on neighbours but may have to finish work started at night to ensure the safety of the platforms for daytime use.
