PUBLIC NOTICE
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(HARLINGTON: PARTS OF FOOTPATH NO. 23, FOOTPATH NO. 4 AND FOOTPATH NO. 36)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the length of public Footpath No. 23, Harlington which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0365 2999 (map point A) to OS GR TL 0350 292 ( map point E), along part of public Footpath No. 4 which extends from OS GR TL 0384 3002 (map point B) to OS GR TL 0387 2996 (map point C), and along the length of public Footpath No. 36 from OS GR TL 0350 2972 (map point D) to OS GR TL 0385 2994 (map point F).
This temporary closure is required to install the remaining site drainage and to construct the new (FP36) and upgraded (FP23) Footpaths. The closure is expected to take place from 26th March 2025 for up to six months.
The alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation is shown by the green lines on the plan for Footpath No. 4, which runs through the estate between points B and C on the plan, and the suggested connection to bridleway no. 21 at the south. For Footpath No. 23 and Footpath No. 36 there is no alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation.
Further details, including a map, can also be found on the Council’s website at: https://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/info/82/countryside/431/rights_of_way/2
The proposed Order will come into operation on 26th March 2025 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the footpaths have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
