Notice From CBC – Garden Waste Collection Update

We are pleased to confirm that we will be undertaking a garden waste collection during a two-week period in October. This collection will clear the backlog of waste in resident’s garden bins before the winter period.

We will collect garden waste between 18th October and the 30th of October.

To facilitate this, we will redeploy crews from the weekly food waste collection to collect garden waste for the two weeks. This means that food waste will not be collected during this period.

During this two-week window, residents are asked to place their garden waste bin or their two Council issued bags at the kerbside instead of their food waste bins, from 7am. This should be done on the day residents normally have their recycling collected.

If residents are unable to wait until for food waste collections to resume (from the 1st Nov) to dispose of their food waste, we would recommend either home composting or disposal in their household waste.

To further help Central Bedfordshire Residents manage their waste, from Monday 27th  September, our residents will no longer need to book a slot at their local Household Waste Recycling Centres (tidy tips).

Our permit system will be reinstated again from Monday 27th September. Trade and commercial waste is only accepted as a paid service at Thorn Turn HWRC and residents will need to book online for vans, large trailers and certain materials, please check our website for further details.
