Waste collections over Easter (CBC press release)

Kerbside waste collections continue as normal

We will still be collecting kerbside waste on Good Friday, Easter Monday and all over the Easter period.

GOV.UK have advice on the safe disposal of waste during COVID-19 – Coronavirus.

Garden waste collections remain suspended

Unfortunately, due to low staff numbers and in common with neighbouring councils we recently suspended all garden waste collections for the time being.

We are prioritising waste collections according to public health implications. We have therefore needed to prioritise collecting other materials including black bin/bag waste.

We have lots of information on home composting on our website and our subsidised compost bin supplier is still accepting online orders with home delivery.

Find out more information about the garden waste suspension and other FAQs about waste and tidy tips.

All our Household Waste Recycling Centres are closed until further notice

Any large items such as furniture, wood and metals that residents have should be held onto until the sites re-open. Do not put any electrical items in any of your bins at home.

Where possible residents should compost grass cuttings and hedge trimmings at home or alternatively keep your garden waste until sites re-open. Find out information on how to compost.

Please do not leave any waste outside the recycling centres. This is classed as fly-tipping and is a criminal offence, for which offenders will be prosecuted.

Please avoid lighting bonfires

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to 12 bonfires on Sunday.

Not only is burning waste bad for the environment and a nuisance to those who wish to get fresh air but irresponsible burning puts pressure on Beds Fire resources, when they could be better spent helping our community.

🔥We would like to urge you to please stop 🔥
