Hello everyone, please find information from National Highways in relation to the below:
I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out resurfacing work on the M1 southbound junction 13 to 12. Once completed, drivers will experience a smoother, safer road surface
We plan to complete this work overnight on Saturday 28 March 2026. We will work between 10pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M1 southbound junction 13 to 12 and divert traffic as follows:
- Drivers travelling southbound on the M1 should leave the motorway at junction 13 via the slip road
- At the first roundabout, take the second exit onto Bedford Road
- At the first set of traffic lights, turn right onto Salford Road
- At second roundabout, take second exit and continue on A507 (Ampthill)
- At the third roundabout, take second exit and continue on A507 (Ampthill)
- Continue to the fourth roundabout and take the third exit onto Fordfield Road
- Continue along Fordfield Road and proceed straight ahead at the next roundabout to remain on Steppingley Road
- Follow Steppingley Road to the next roundabout and take the second exit to continue onto Dunstable Road (A5120)
- Continue along Dunstable Road, which becomes Flitwick Road (A5120)
- Proceed straight ahead on the A5120
- Continue straight over the next two roundabouts, leading onto Harlington Road
- Continue along Harlington Road to M1 junction 12
- Rejoin the M1 southbound
Please note emergency vehicles will not have access through the works.
