Important roadworks information
M1 southbound junction 12 exit slip road – resurfacing
I’m writing to tell you that we plan to carry out resurfacing work on the M1 southbound at the junction 12 exit slip road. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.
We plan to complete this work over three nights starting on Monday 6 October 2025. We’ll be working between 10pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we’ll need to close the M1 southbound at the junction 12 exit slip road and divert traffic as follows:
- Drivers travelling southbound on the M1 intending to exit at junction 10 should continue southbound on the M1 towards junction 11A
- Exit at junction 11A and take the third exit at the first roundabout to continue straight onto Charlton Roundabout
- At the Charlton Roundabout, take the fourth exit to rejoin the M1 northbound
- Continue northbound on the M1 and exit at junction 12 to complete your journey
