Village Car Park Overnight Closure Update

Many of you will be aware of the large number of new housing developments in Harlington and surrounding villages. There will be an increasing over use of the Village Car Park by commuters and holidays makers using the car park to catch the train from Harlington to the Airport.

Up until 3 or 4 years ago it was the practice to close the car park overnight, and after careful consideration this practice will be starting in the very near future.

The goal is to ensure that the village car park is available to residents who wish to use Bury Orchard, the playing fields and the Village all.

The planned overnight bollards will be raised and lowered as follows:

Sunday Evening: Bollards raised
Monday Morning: Bollards lowered
Monday Evening: Bollards raised
Tuesday Morning: Bollards lowered
Tuesday Evening: Bollards raised
Wednesday Morning: Bollards lowered
Wednesday Evening: Bollards raised
Thursday Morning: Bollards lowered
Thursday Evening: Bollards raised
Friday Morning: Bollards lowered

The above schedule shows the car park will be open 24 hrs over the weekend.

The signs that have been in place for several months have stated a time of raising at 10:30pm and lowering at 9am. Due to the lack of volunteers the lowering task fell to Council staff who start work at 9:15am however, after consultation the gentleman who acts as the school crossing patrol (lollipop Man) has agreed to lower the bollards when he finishes his shift a few minutes before 9am.

This process will commence with the next few of weeks.
